Chumash Exhibit

The Price Historical Park Master Plan update includes plans for an exhibit to the Chumash. Authentic village components that commonly existed during the late 1700s, such as ceremonial circles and round tule-thatched houses, may be constructed for display.

Shown here are components of a Chumash village that was constructed in the past under the direction of the family of the late Elizabeth Smith.  It was constructed at the time on private property adjacent to the park and has since all but disappeared.

It served as an example of some village features that could demonstrate the Chumash way of life.
